The surprising answer was yes. With OpenAI Codex, I planned, rebuilt, tested, signed, and prepared a new Android app update for Google Play in just a few focused hours. This is the story of how a branding and packaging designer used AI not just to write content, but to build a real app experience.
Before I go further, the “million-dollar app” idea in this title is not a revenue claim. It is a mindset. A valuable app is not valuable only because it has code. It becomes valuable when it saves time, improves customer experience, supports a business, and creates a smoother path from interest to action.
Why I Wanted to Build the App
Tanur Graphics is focused on branding, packaging, logo design, print design, and creative business visuals. My website already had useful pages, including a portfolio, shop, blog, service pages, and a free design generator.
But a website and a mobile app feel different. A website is something people visit. An app is something people keep. I wanted customers to open Tanur Graphics from their phone and quickly reach the exact area they need: packaging design, portfolio, blog, contact, tools, policies, or services.
OpenAI Codex App Development Changed My Workflow
The first version of the app was mostly a WebView experience. It worked, but it felt too much like opening a website in a browser. With Codex, I redesigned the app flow into something more mobile-friendly.

The most exciting part was not that AI wrote code. The exciting part was that Codex worked like a development partner. I could explain what felt wrong, show screenshots, describe the user experience I wanted, and then test new builds quickly.
From Website Wrapper to Mobile Design Studio
I did not want users to feel like they were browsing a website inside Chrome. The goal was to make the app feel like a small mobile design studio. So the app now starts with a card-based dashboard instead of immediately loading a web page.
That small decision changed the whole feeling of the product. A customer can open the app and immediately choose what they need: browse services, see my portfolio, read the blog, use a design tool, or contact me.
