Packaging dielines by industry

Start from the way your product is packed, sold and handled.

Different industries put different pressure on a carton. A pharmaceutical box needs space for regulated information and inserts. A cosmetic carton may prioritize presentation and finishing. An e-commerce mailer has to survive distribution. These industry pages group relevant structures and explain the practical choices before you begin artwork.

Pharmaceutical Packaging4 structures Pharmaceutical packaging often needs more than a box that simply fits the product. Medicine cartons may need room for leaflets, blister packs, bottles, vials, dosage information and traceability areas, so structure choice should happen before artwork begins. Browse tuck cartons, stronger lock-bottom options, sleeves and protective components suited to healthcare packaging workflows. Explore pharmaceutical packaging dielines Cosmetics & Beauty21 structures Cosmetic packaging is judged by both fit and presentation. Perfume, skincare, makeup and personal-care products often benefit from clean tuck cartons, sleeves, trays or premium presentation structures that protect the product while leaving strong uninterrupted branding panels. Start with the product and insert requirements, then choose the opening experience and board construction. Explore cosmetics & beauty dielines Food & Beverage29 structures Food and beverage packaging ranges from lightweight dry-food cartons to stronger trays, sleeves and transport cases. Tea, coffee, cereal, confectionery, bakery products and bottled goods all create different demands for closure strength, barrier materials and packing speed. Use this section to compare structures before confirming food-contact material and distribution requirements with your converter. Explore food & beverage dielines E-commerce & Mailers21 structures E-commerce packaging has to survive handling, stacking and delivery while still presenting the product well when opened. Mailers, folders, self-locking trays and shipping cartons suit different product weights and fulfillment methods. Choose a structure based on protection, packing speed, returnability and how much internal restraint the product needs during transit. Explore e-commerce & mailers dielines Electronics & Tech31 structures Electronics packaging often combines a rigid outer carton with inserts or partitions that control movement around chargers, accessories, devices and components. The right dieline should consider product weight, cable space, fragile surfaces and the unboxing sequence. Compare cartons, mailers, trays and insert structures that can be adapted around protective internal components. Explore electronics & tech dielines Retail & Display19 structures Retail and display packaging needs to work as both a protective pack and a merchandising surface. Counter displays, trays, sleeves and retail-ready cartons can expose the product quickly while keeping branding visible. Start with shelf orientation, product count and replenishment method so the dieline supports how the pack will actually be opened and displayed. Explore retail & display dielines Apparel & Gifts9 structures Apparel and gift packaging often puts presentation, opening feel and reusability ahead of high-speed automated packing. Sleeves, telescope boxes, drawer-style packs, trays and mailers can create a more deliberate unboxing experience for garments, accessories and gifts. Choose the structure around product depth, tissue or insert space, and the level of protection required in delivery. Explore apparel & gifts dielines Shipping & Industrial18 structures Shipping and industrial packaging prioritizes compression strength, efficient board use and reliable handling. Slotted cases, overlap cartons, folders and reinforced structures can be selected according to load, stacking conditions and distribution route. The generator provides the flat geometry, while board grade, flute, joint design and compression performance should be confirmed for the actual shipment. Explore shipping & industrial dielines Supplements & Wellness10 structures Supplements and wellness products commonly use folding cartons around bottles, sachets, blister packs, jars and multipacks. A good structure leaves space for ingredients, directions and regulatory information while giving the bottom enough strength for the packed weight. Tuck cartons, snap-lock bottoms and auto-lock bottoms are useful starting points depending on packing speed and load. Explore supplements & wellness dielines Household & Personal Care25 structures Household and personal-care products vary from lightweight tubes and soaps to heavier bottles and multi-item packs. The dieline should match the product shape, closure security and retail handling rather than relying on one generic carton. Explore tuck boxes, stronger lock bottoms, sleeves, trays and shipping structures that can be sized around the actual product and insert system. Explore household & personal care dielines

How to use the packaging dieline generator

Start with the finished internal dimensions supplied by your product or manufacturer. Measure width, depth and height in the same unit, then generate the layout and check that the main panels match the intended orientation. Download the template and place it on a locked layer in your design software so artwork stays aligned while you work.

  1. Confirm the product and box dimensions with your supplier.
  2. Generate and review the panel arrangement before designing.
  3. Ask the printer to approve the final production dieline.

Why an accurate dieline matters

A dieline maps the cuts, folds, glue areas and printable panels that turn flat material into a finished package. Small dimensional errors can move a logo across a fold, hide required information or leave artwork inside a glue flap. Always keep important text and marks away from cut and crease lines, extend backgrounds into the printer’s bleed area and request a physical proof when color or fit is critical. This generator provides a planning template; your printer remains the final authority for material thickness, tolerances and machine requirements.
